Article summary

Assets in BuiltSpace can have an unlimited number of additional asset properties.

Asset Properties allow you customize or extend an Asset record.  For example, electrical Assets may have custom Asset Properties to record voltage.  HVAC assets may have Asset Properties indicating that they are at height and fall protection is needed, or telling you the size of the filter required.  Some Asset Properties may display data or readings from a Building’s Building Automation System (BAS) (requires custom integration).

When you complete Procedures, some questions may be configured to allow you to view or update Asset Property values.  In those cases, the Asset Properties could be displayed in both places – inline in the Procedure and also in the Extended Properties section of the Asset.

Accessing the Extended (Asset) Properties

To view the extended properties of an asset, open the Asset Information screen by tapping the more info '...' button on an asset (for more info the Asset Information screen, click here).

From this screen, simply tap on Extended Properties.

Simply tap the property you want to know more information about.

If you see that the arrow is facing to the right, it means that the item you are looking at is collapsed (i.e. closed).  After tapping on it, it will turn blue and the arrow will point downwards.  This means it's expanded (i.e. open).

Drill further down to get to the property you're looking for by tapping on unopened items.  See the screenshots below as an example of the layout and how it will generally look.

Tables of Data

As you drill into the extended properties of an asset, you will come across tables of data that display the values of each of the properties.  Here is an example of one of these tables, with an explanation of each of the fields below.

A - Property Name
This is the name of the property.

B - Property Value
The value of the property as it was last set.

C - Timestamp & Modified By
This tells you when (date and time) the property value was last updated and by whom.
